Nereus is a Multi IP/ISDN/X21 Codec in a 3U rack, which can house up to 14 IP audio modules or up to 7 couples of IP + ISDN/X21 modules. These audio modules are based on ProntoNet, so it offers the possibility to extend the number of audio signals provided by ProntoNet. It supports all the main features of ProntoNet, and inherits all the key features from the devopment of ProntoNet, such us widest range of audio compression modes, stability, flexibility and easiness to use. |

· IP Multicast, Unicast and Multi-Unicast audio streaming transmission/reception.
· ISDN/X21 modules:The ISDN/X21 module offers the possibility to send audio over ISDN leased lines links. This module is optional and requires one IP module to be installed for each ISDN/X21 module installed on the frame.
· BackUp: Integral backup feature to assure program continuity. ISDN can be used as a back line in the event of a failure of the IP or X21 lines.
· Configuarble and scalable system : Up to 14 IP modules or any combination of IP with ISDN/X21 modules. Cards can be hot swapped for servicing or maintenance.
· IP Compatibility: SIP/SDP/RTP protocols are supported according to the standard Tech 3326 for IP compatibility defined by the N/ACIP project within the EBU group.
· ISDN Compatibility: Fully compatible with all major audiocodec manufacturers, supporting the most important bonding algorithms: J52, Telos and CCS bondings.
· The Ethernet port is used for audio and control. The unit can be controlled from a Web Browser and/or ProdysControl application, which lets the user manage not only each module of multiple Nereus at the same time from a single application, but also any other Prodys codec (ProntoNet, Pronto2/3, ProntoNet, Kronos…).
· Each IP Module offers fully TCP/UDP/IP connectivity via a 10Base-T/100BaseTX Ethernet port, supporting the following protocols :
· DNS: Domain Name Server.
· DHPC: IP address auto configuration.
· RIP: Internal/Alias IP addresses can be assigned.
· SNTP: Clock synchronization.
· SNMP: Remote management over SNMP protocol.
· HTTP: A Web server allow the user to monitor/configure the unit from a Web Browser.
· IGMP: This protocol deal with Multicast traffic.
· ICMP: IP control protocol.
· SMTP: Simple Mail Transfer Protocol.
· IP Compatibility: SIP/SDP/RTP accoding to the Tech 3326 N/ACIP standard for IP compatibility defined by the EBU group.
· Each IP Module is equipped with a stereo balanced analog audio input/output (15 way D type connector) with 24 bits A/D-D/A converters, and AES/EBU digital (9 way D type connector) audio input/output. The AES/EBU interface provides input for external clock.
· Prodys Real time Network Analyzer to monitor critical network parameters in real time during the connection.
· Prodys NAT Traversal Streaming Protocol permits router firewall pass-through with zero coniguration.
· FEC (Forward Error Correction) is supported as per the RFC 2733 standard. Up to 24 different schemes are available, to fit to the desired delay and available bandwidth.
· Error Concealment mechanims on Mpeg audio modes are supported to reduce the impact of packet losses.
· User Access Control to define different access restrictions in a per user basis.
· Configuration presets to define different conigurations for all or some speciic parameters.
· Additional LAN Management port to split audio and control data flows (optional).
· N+1 Prodys Redundancy Protocol allows one backup IP codec to provide resiliency for up to N active IP codecs.
· Dolby E transmission/reception over IP (by using AES/EBU I/O in transparent mode).
· Most important industry-standard algorithms: PCM,G722,MPEG1/2 Layer II/III, MPEG AAC LC/LD/HE and apt-X(Standard and Enhanced 16,20 & 24 bits).
· Operational monitoring through front panel leds:
o CON led: Indicates line connection status.
o FRM led: Indicates audio synchronization.
o LNK led: Indicates LAN connection.
o ACT led: Indicates LAN Tx/Rx.
o SYS led: Indicates system ready.
o A/D led: Indicates audio input selected.
· Automatic detection of the encoding mode used by the remote unit.
· Independent encoder/decoder operation.
· Transmission of auxiliary data along with the encoded audio through an user configurable RS232 port (RJ45 connector) at 300, 1200, 2400, 4800 or 9600 baud.
· A redundant AC power supply is available as an option. Nereus has a main AC power supply and a secondary power supply input. In the event of the main AC input failing, then the secondary supply will automatically take over in order to give continuous operation.
· Up to four user configurable general purpose input-outputs (open-collector signals, RJ45 connector). These GPIOs can be used as end-to-end contact closure they can also be user configured, so inputs can be set up to control audio inputs or reset alarms, and outputs can be configured to monitor line status, audio synchronization or alarms, among other options.
· Streaming advance features:
- Jitter correction buffer. This adjustable buffer avoids audio dropouts compensating for up to 10 seconds of jitter in the IP connection.
- The unit automatically adjusts in synchronisation with the transmitter site rate, to give a constant delay in IP communications.
- The frame size is user configurable, to give full flexibility when adjusting the delay and bandwidth use.
- The codec provides a test tool which allows the user to check the bandwidth, delay and jitter in the IP connection. This information can be used to adjust the streaming parameters and so, to obtain the best-quality in the real-time audio reception.
· Local or remotely (TCP/IP) upgrading of one or several units at once using the same utility, which is also compatible with ProntoNet units. Factory software upgrades can be downloaded.
· Alarms: Real Time alarms management through SNMP traps and e-mails .
The alarms are saved in non-volatile memory. It is possible to have an historical log of events even if the unit was disconnected from the network.
