HISTORY

Prodys was a pioneer in the creation of a codec capable of transmitting over IP networks. This new equipment would take over from the successful PRONTO family and would include among its features all the developments included in the previous codecs.

In 2004, PRONTONET was born. This codec includes IP, ISDN and X.21 as well as a wide range of coding algorithms such as AAC and apt-X in a 1U rack unit.

Alongside the rack unit family, Prodys has also developed the NOMADA portable codec family (Nomada IPW & Nomada IP XL) and the NEREUS multicodec family.

Once Prodys had firmly established itself in the audio market, it began in parallel a series of video compression and streaming product developments that in 2010 resulted in its first portable video codec: IKUSNET.

Prodys was one of the first companies in the world to offer a portable video codec capable of handling multiple mobile operators to ensure the stability and quality of the connection from any point with coverage thanks to the BRAVE (Bit Rate Adaptive Video Encoding) streaming protocol developed by Prodys.

This algorithm works in both audio and video communications and is recognised in the Broadcast market as the most robust for transmissions using any type of Internet access (cable, Wifi or LTE/5G mobile networks). Today it continues to be used in our latest generation equipment and is widely used by many broadcasters around the world.

In 2015 Prodys introduced the Quantum Lite, the portable audio system version using Prodys BRAVE technology. This equipment is still in our catalogue and has already become a standard in many radio stations around the world. It is currently the only handheld unit that uses reliable internet technology allowing a complete radio programme to be made outside the studio without compromising on quality. Over 2000 units have been sold and with the upgrade to work on 5G networks a considerable increase in sales is expected.

In recent years, remote production, and in particular the broadcasting of sporting events, has been one of the driving forces of the broadcast industry due to the continuous growth of its audience level and the demand for improvements in its production, especially due to streaming distribution.

Prodys, always aware of the needs of its market, launched in 2019 a new line of totally innovative products in remote production, in which audio and video technologies converge and whose result is the QUANTUM2 family which is revolutionising remote production applications in the field of what is known as remote commentary stations.

The hardware has been completely renewed to have more capacity and performance, which has allowed us to incorporate new protocols and adapt it to new applications, as well as improving the monitoring and management tools.
