Reliable connectivity is essential for live remote broadcasting, especially when fixed IP networks are unreliable, limited or unavailable. Quantum2 AV and HG2 work together to provide a resilient IP contribution solution for OB Vans, combining multiple cellular and Ethernet connections for reliable audio and video transmission.
Installed in an OB Van, Quantum2 AV can connect to an HG2 external communications module supporting up to eight LTE/5G modems. Together with Quantum2 AV’s two Ethernet ports, this provides up to 10 simultaneous IP links.
Using Prodys’ BRAVE protocol, these connections can operate in:
- Diversity mode, providing increased redundancy and resilience.
- Bonding mode, combining available connections to increase transmission capacity.
This flexible approach helps maintain reliable connectivity even when individual networks experience congestion or interruption making it well suited to mobile and remote productions where reliable connectivity is critical.
Quantum2 AV: Audio and video in one unit
Quantum2 AV combines two independent stereo audio codecs and one bidirectional video codec in a single unit, helping reduce equipment, space and complexity inside the OB Van.
Designed for remote and mobile production, it supports:
- Bidirectional audio and video transmission
- BRAVE and SRT connectivity
- Web Call and Web Commentator
- Ethernet Tunnel
- Remote management via ProdysControlPlus
Quantum2 AV is available in two form factors. The 19-inch, 1U rackmount version offers analog/digital or AoIP audio interfaces, including Dante and Ravenna/AES67. The half-rack version features AoIP audio interfaces with Dante or Ravenna/AES67.
HG2: Flexible cellular connectivity
The HG2 is an external communications module designed to provide up to eight LTE/5G cellular connections using multiple SIM cards and networks to help maintain connectivity in challenging locations.
HG2 is also quipped with high-gain antennas and IP63 environmental protection, making it suitable for mobile broadcast environments.
