It is often the case that IP connections available in remote broadcast scenarios are unreliable and limited in capacity, making it difficult to ensure high-quality audio and video transmission.
Prodys units with external modems support, like Quantum2 ST Duo LTE, Quantum2AvHR and Ikusnet3 HR, when installed in OB vehicles, overcome this challenge through the BRAVE protocol. Each unit supports a communications module with up to 8 LTE/5G modems. Combined with the two Ethernet ports available on the equipment, this results in 10 simultaneous IP links. These links can be used in Diversity mode, providing an unparalled redundancy to the transmission, or aggregated in Bonding mode to provide sufficient transmission capacity, while BRAVE automatically distributes the load across available links to maximize quality.
Additionally, the encoded signal’s bandwidth can be dynamically adjusted to match real network conditions. In the event of packet loss, the built-in active recovery mechanism ensures reliability by requesting retransmission of the missing packets.
Another advantage of this Prodys equipment is their flexibility: each unit can function as both an encoder and decoder, meaning the same device can be deployed at both ends of a point-to-point connection.
Finally, both with BRAVE and SRT, video transmission can take place simultaneously in both directions. This means, for example, that an Ikusnet3 HR can send and receive video at the same time—significantly reducing space requirements and power consumption.
Remote management is guaranteed thanks to the ProdysControlPlus management software.
