High Quality Audio Channels

When a broadcaster sends a commentator to cover an event, they want to be able to do the job efficiently, using the least amount of equipment but without compromising the quality of the audio received. The best solution in this scenario is the portable equipment of the Quantum2 family.

A key aspect of live transmission is reliability, especially when using the Internet to send audio signals. Quantum2 has up to 10 IP interfaces, both fixed and wireless, which can operate simultaneously, allowing the same data stream to be replicated on all of them.

The ability to adapt easily and quickly is another of its main features. Its audio interfaces, internal buses and matrices allow us to connect to any type of audio source and configure each output completely independently. The Quantum2 family of equipment allows the transmission of two different stereo audio mixes, which can be used for two programs (e.g. using different languages) or for a single program together with a separate command channel.

Another essential point is remote management, especially when it comes to live productions. The ProdysControlPlus application allows real-time configuration and monitoring of the commentary team, regardless of the network connection, thus relieving the task of the staff on site.

Audio+Video Encoder

Sometimes it is enriching to offer images of commentators doing their job (presentations, interviews…) so that these images can be mixed in the studio to complete a program with personalized images or to be broadcast on social networks. This service can be provided by means of a portable equipment equipped with a video encoder, such as the Quantum2 units, to which a commentator’s camera would be connected, allowing the transmission of extra and personalized content in HD quality.

This configuration allows the use of up to 4 audio channels within the video stream.

Audio+Video Decoder

Usually in an event, the Host Broadcaster provides a single video signal to help the commentators to create and send audio to the studios, where it will be used to create the final program. In this type of scenario, the possibility of receiving an additional video stream from the studio provides invaluable assistance to the commentator.

If the commentator has a full view of the event, the video channel can be used to send supporting information such as statistics or replay, VAR

In transmissions where the commentator does not have a full view (motorcycling, car racing, cyclo-cross, marathons…) the video channel allows him to visualize the part of the event that it’s not accessible.

In both cases, if an Ikusnet3 HR video encoder or a Quantum2 AV were available as a video source, it could transmit using the BRAVE protocol bonding techniques to aggregate the bandwidth of several IP, fixed or LTE interfaces and obtain perfect transmission quality with high bandwidth.
